Pulled my hairout as well and found this out by alot of luck and trial and error. Once you have one in their, you no longer have to worry about that one as MO2 will then start putting them in the overwrite directory. If i can remember correctly you have to have atleast one preset.json file. I never got the presets to work, however before I moved to the overwritten folder, I was able to open the presets, but nothing was there (I tested it by downloading numerous presets off of nexus), nor could I save my own. Using MO2, I had to manually copy the LooksMenu files into the overwrite folder from my steam folder in order for it to work, however now the presets option is greyed out and I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.
